On the evening of March 26, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Dazu Rock Carvings International Tourism and Culture Festival was held at Dazu District Sports Center. Intangible cultural heritage performances such as the Carp Lantern Dance, Zhong'ao Fire Dragon Dance, and the Star Concert brought a passionate audio-visual feast to the audience. 

This festival, with the theme "Exquisite Rock Carvings Making Their Own Voice," lasts from March 26 to May 9. It will launch 15 wonderful activities with international style, Chinese essence, and Dazu charm.

At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee officially launched the recruitment plan for "Guardians of Dazu Rock Carvings" and announced that cultural celebrities such as Shan Jixiang, former curator of the Palace Museum, would be among the first batch of guardians. 

The recruitment plan for "Guardians of Dazu Rock Carvings" includes recruiting 1,007 guardians worldwide in 2024 to add strength and wisdom to protect Dazu Rock Carvings, protect history and inherit culture together.

Dazu Rock Carvings is a world cultural heritage site. The Thousand-Armed Goddess of Mercy is one of the most representative statues of Dazu Rock Carvings. It has 1,007 arms and 1,007 eyes, with one eye carved on each palm, symbolizing the combination of wisdom and strength. The determination of the 1,007 "Guardians of Dazu Rock Carvings" is derived from this. 

The world cultural heritage site Dazu Rock Carvings represents the world's highest level of grotto art from the 9th to 13th centuries and is the last monument in the history of world grotto art. 1. Be physically and mentally healthy, abide by disciplinary regulations and the law, have a global vision, be enthusiastic about public interest activities, and love Chinese culture.

2. Be willing, able, and able to participate in protecting, researching, inheriting, and promoting Dazu Rock Carvings.

3. Experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and artistic celebrities who have made positive contributions to the protection, research, inheritance, and promotion of Dazu Rock Carvings or enjoy high popularity and extensive influence in related fields at home and abroad.

(II) Self-recommendation Requirements for "Guardians of Dazu Rock Carvings" (Individuals)

1. Be physically and mentally healthy, abide by disciplinary regulations and the law, and have good morality and cultural literacy.

2. I love the rock carving culture and have the willingness, time, and ability to participate in protecting, researching, inheriting, and promoting Dazu Rock Carvings.

3. Experts, scholars, entrepreneurs, and artistic workers who have contributed positively to the protection, research, inheritance, and promotion of Dazu Rock Carvings or have certain popularity and great influence in related fields at home and abroad.

4. Be recommended by credible organizations or institutions.

(III) Self-recommendation Requirements for "Guardians of Dazu Rock Carvings" (Groups)

1. Civil entities formally incorporated or registered for filing in addition to nationals (natural persons), such as enterprises, organs, public institutions, and social organizations.

2. Have a good social reputation, abide by disciplinary regulations and the law, and have no bad credit records.

3. Love the rock carving culture and have the willingness, time, and ability to participate in protecting, researching, inheriting, and promoting Dazu Rock Carvings.

4. Groups that have positively contributed to the protection, research, inheritance, and promotion of Dazu Rock Carvings or enjoy high popularity and great influence in related fields at home and abroad.

5. Be recommended or certified by the competent authority that approved the group's establishment.

VI. Recruitment Process

(I) Application. Visit the Academy of Dazu Rock Carvings' official website to download and fill in the corresponding individual or group application form in Chinese and English, then send it to Guardians_DZSK@163.com.

(II) Review. Organize special personnel to review the information filled in by applicants.

(III) Selection. Organize relevant experts to select applicants who have passed the review.

(IV) Announcement. Publish the list of selected applicants on the official website, WeChat official account, and relevant official media accounts of the Academy of Dazu Rock Carvings.

(I) Rights

Specially Invited Guardian of Dazu Rock Carvings. ① Be awarded the honorary certificate of "Guardian of Dazu Rock Carvings" that is valid indefinitely; ② Be supported with convenient conditions for conducting scientific research, inspections, exchanges, and other activities at Dazu Rock Carvings; ③ Be invited to participate in significant events related to the protection, research, inheritance, and promotion of Dazu Rock Carvings.

2. Guardian of Dazu Rock Carvings. ① Be awarded the honorary certificate of "Guardian of Dazu Rock Carvings" with a validity period of five years; ② Be supported with convenient conditions for conducting scientific research, inspections, exchanges, and other activities at Dazu Rock Carvings; ③ Be invited to participate in significant events related to the protection, research, inheritance, and promotion of Dazu Rock Carvings.

3. Guardian of Dazu Rock Carvings (Group). ① Be awarded the honorary certificate of "Guardian of Dazu Rock Carvings (Group)" with a validity period of five years; ② Be supported with convenient conditions for conducting scientific research, inspections, exchanges, and other activities at Dazu Rock Carvings; ③ Be invited to participate in significant events related to the protection, research, inheritance, and promotion of Dazu Rock Carvings.

(II) Obligations

1. Actively offer suggestions for the protection, research, inheritance, and promotion of Dazu Rock Carvings.

2. Take the initiative to participate in public-interest activities related to the protection, publicity, and promotion of Dazu Rock Carvings' cultural relics.

3. Fulfill the guardian's obligations according to the approved plan.
