Chongqing - This year's Looking China annual youth film project was launched on Friday in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, with 10 foreign filmmakers invited to film the food and scenic spots of the region.

The young filmmakers, who are from Greece and Russia, will visit several districts and counties in Chongqing. They will create documentary films from April 27 to May 2, using their perspectives to tell stories in and about China.

Anastasiia Manaeva from Russia will go to the Dazu Rock Carvings, a world cultural heritage site, to film the story of how restoration of cultural relics and the application of digital imaging technology help preserve the exquisite rock carvings there. Antonios Kordatos, who is from Greece, will focus on the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor, showcasing how motorcycles produced in Chongqing are exported overseas via this transportation route.

"For most of us, this marks our first visits to China, and we are eager to immerse ourselves in its traditions, history and artistic influences," said Effimia Anagnostidou from Greece.

The Looking China project, co-hosted by the Huilin Foundation and the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture, has been successfully held 13 times since its establishment in 2011. It has seen the completion of 951 short films by 1,009 youths from 102 countries.
