By XINYI LIXINGCHEN YUE|Jul 30,2024

Chongqing - From July 25 to 26, Dave Akbarshah Fikarno, Chairman of Foreign Affairs for the Golkar Party and Member of the People's Representative Council (DPR) of Indonesia, led a delegation to Chongqing.

The delegation visited the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Land Port Exhibition Hall, the Seres Auto Intelligent Factory, the Dazu Rock Carvings, and the Shibati Ladders. They aimed to delve into Chongqing's economic and social development, inland opening-up, smart manufacturing, historical culture, and urban renewal. They also sought to identify new cooperation opportunities by examining advancements in new energy vehicles, technological innovation, and intelligent manufacturing. During the visit, Mr. Fikarno had an exclusive interview with iChongqing.

In the interview, Mr. Fikarno said, "The first time I came to Chongqing, my trip was very brief, and I didn't even have the chance to try Chongqing's renowned hot pot. While I wouldn't say I was disappointed, I didn't get to fully experience the city. Therefore, when I received another invitation from the Chinese government, I specifically requested to return to Chongqing to explore its beauty and architecture more deeply."

In May 2017, Chongqing and West Java entered sister city relations, fostering friendly exchanges and practical cooperation across various fields. Highlighting the similarities between Chongqing and West Java, Mr. Fikarno noted, "There are many similarities in the natural environments of Chongqing and West Java. Although the cities differ in size, their populations are quite similar. Both regions have made significant strides in manufacturing, whether in heavy industries or auto manufacturing. I believe we can collaborate in these fields, mutually enhancing our capabilities and achieving greater progress."

He shared the topic of manufacturing cooperation, "In Indonesia, we are striving to advance our battery manufacturing industry because we have abundant resources, including nickel and coal. This makes it feasible for Indonesia to establish smelters and battery factories. What we need now are technology transfers and market opening. The Chinese market for electric vehicles is highly advanced. This is why technologies can be adapted to electric vehicles, whether for motorcycles, cars, trucks, or other types of vehicles. China holds a technological advantage, and we possess ample resources. By combining these strengths, we can accelerate our progress and forge our own development path."

During the Seres Auto Intelligent Smart Factory visit, Mr. Fikarno praised the factory's cutting-edge technology and efficient production processes. He commented, "The vehicles are impressive, the seats are comfortable, and the screens in the cars exemplify advanced technology." Many delegation members expressed significant interest in electric vehicles and were eager to expand cooperation further.

At the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Land Port Exhibition Hall, Mr. Fikarno gained a comprehensive understanding of the corridor's construction. He emphasized, "We need to further explore the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, including high-speed railways, large highways, and cargo trains. This will expedite logistics, enhance the flow of people, goods, and services, accelerate business operations, and boost productivity."

He also highlighted the significance of direct flights from Jakarta to Chongqing: "The direct flights from Jakarta to Chongqing will significantly increase capacity and accessibility for tourists, business people, and students. Indonesians are eager to travel to China, but their destinations have been limited primarily to well-known cities. However, cities like Chongqing and Xi'an also have great potential and attractions that are worthy of exploration."
